We think each season has its magic, but there is just something so special about fall - it is the perfect time to slow down and appreciate the little things in life. Since our Fall ’18 RosePost box is all about celebrating the beauty of everyday, we were inspired to share our favorite ways to celebrate the little moments of joy, indulging the body and mind in daily self-care rituals. This isn't an extensive list with right or wrong answers (there aren't such) - just some suggestions based on personal experience. 


1. Start your day with a positive mindset!

How you start the day makes a huge difference. Whether it’s your usual exercise run, meditation, quiet time curled up with a cup of coffee or tea, or daily practice of gratitude - setting some time aside for you and starting the day with a positive mindset will make a huge difference for the rest of the day. For me - that's having ten minutes of quiet time early in the morning, curled up in front of the fireplace when everyone else is still asleep. It’s my time to be still, gather my thoughts and focus on the day ahead. 


2. Do something nice for your body, mind and soul daily! 

It does not have to be something big or luxurious, but it has to be mindful and consistent. Even a few minutes of self-care daily will make a difference. Often, it may look like indulging in your daily beauty ritual, savoring the scents and textures of your favorite skincare. At other times - it may be giving yourself a little break for a cup of tea or a brisk walk outside. At days when you have more time - it may be curling up with a book, watching a good movie, or having an extra hour of sleep. Listen and recognize those signals that tell you to slow down, then honor your body and mind with little gestures of self-care and self-love.

3. Surround yourself with the scents that make you happy!

Scents have the power to influence and transform our mood and overall wellbeing. A particular aroma needs to be experienced in multiple ways, daily, to have an aromatherapeutic effect. My love for rose-infused skincare is well documented, so multiple times a day I mist and refresh my face (and hair!) with rose flower water. It not only hydrates my skin, but the aroma instantly boosts my mood and puts a smile on my face. What are the scents that make you feel relaxed and balanced? What are the ones that give you a boost of energy? Discover them and find ways to include them in your everyday - light a candle; burn some essential oils; carry your favorite aromatherapy roller in your purse and apply to pulse points when you need some re-assurance, energy, positivity; take a few extra minutes during your evening skincare routine to breathe in the aroma of your favorite face oil - to fully experience the scent.

4. Practice plant therapy!

Ever wonder why a bouquet of flowers usually makes you smile? Flowers and plants have been found to positively influence our emotions and make us happy - by triggering our happy brain chemicals. So, pick up some flowers and plants - or colorful fallen leaves from your walk outside - and spend some time arranging them at home or the office, celebrating the beauty and magic of the season. Arranging flowers is one of the simplest activities that makes me completely lose track of time.

5. Do something spontaneous!

Planning and ‘to do’ lists are essential to our long-term success, but spontaneity in the everyday might be just what you need to notice and enjoy the simple, unexpected, unplanned moments in life. Sometimes we have to seize the opportunity, even if that means deviating a bit from our daily plan. A few weeks ago, after school drop-off, a mom friend called, inviting me to grab coffee at a favorite bakery nearby. I had just gotten home and started on with my day (and 'to dos') and it would have been easier to just say no - but I said yes. We ended up having a great conversation about family / life / work, that was honest, real and much-needed - the perfect, unexpected start of my day!
